Founded in 1946, WA-ACTE has members statewide who represent subject areas of:
· Administration
· Agricultural Education
· Business Education
· Diversified Occupations/Special Needs
· Family and Consumer Sciences
· Career Guidance and Counseling
· Marketing Education
· Industrial Technology Education
· Skilled and Technical Sciences (T&I)
They are teachers, administrators, career guidance specialists and counselors, university professors, state/local employees, and students at middle, secondary, and postsecondary educational levels.
The association's state headquarters is based in Olympia, Washington. Association policy is determined by a 13-member elected Executive Board, including a president, past president, and president elect and 10 representatives representing the association's 9 sections. Members of the sections are appointed to standing committees that help determine policy. Day-to-day operations of the association are managed by a three-member staff.
WA-ACTE works full-time on legislative issues to make sure Career and Technical Education programs are adequately funded...and that our members get all they need to make the most of their professional abilities.
