Keynote and Breakout Session. Understand the methodology for successfully integrating math,
science, and CTE for student success in your district, program, and school.
Greta Bornemann, Mathematics Director, OSPI:
Keynote. Overview of the state math standards, and methods of building applications-based
mathematics courses.
Using Scientific Calculators in the CTE, Math, and Science Classroom:
Hands-on workshop focused on activities using Scientific Calculators. Calculators for session will be provided.
CTE Statistics:
Strategies and activities for a CTE Statistics classroom.
Identifying and Recruiting Potential Students AP Courses: Understand resources available to identify and recruit students into AP courses that meet their
interests.
AP and CTE Back to the Basics:
Peer panel discussing implementing CTE AP courses in the high school.
Integrating Computer Applications Into Language Arts, Algebra I, and Culminating Project: In order to improve the quality of technology instruction, make a direct connection to and support of core content areas, and to support students in the pursuit of meeting standard on the state assessments. Spokane Public Schools’ CTE Business Department has aligned their Computer
Applications (DigiTools) course to their district’s 9th grade Springboard curriculum, Algebra I
curriculum, and Culminating Project requirement. This session will provide the process used to develop the materials and some curriculum examples for each integrated course.
